SOKO Issue #3

 

Online magazine SOKO has released their 3rd issue, and within it pages you'll find enough to hold your high aesthetics. While we're not finding the big name models, or photographers, we usually pay attention to, the maturing point of view, and lens capture, still makes it worth our time.

I especially like the main editorial, titled Dark Horses (model Sandra B. at Karin, and shot by Pierre Dal Corso); especially as it's not always easy pulling off a plain background. But here it works to the subjects advantage; Enjoy the rest of editorial and issue here.

LURVE Is Here

 

LURVE Magazine issue #2 is now available at The Magazine Cafe (NYC). Pick yours up in person, or give them a call and they'll ship it to you ($22).

Issue #2 has grown, with more editorials and interviews, and that's the nice thing about the magazine. It's a relaxed experience of images, and short interviews in between.

The cover, as in issue #1, was shot by Chadwick Tyler, featuring Ataui Deng. And inside you'll see a couple of more editorials by Tyler; + the likes of Olivier Zahm, shooting Annabelle Thompson (below left).

Rackk & Ruin discovers for us 'Twin Magazine', with an upcoming editorial featuring the masterful Freja Beha Erichsen.

If anyone else knows more about Twin magazine, specifically a link to a website, please let us know!

Update: Twin Magazine is under the website domain: twinfactory.co.uk; It's editor in chief is former Lula founder, Becky Smith. It is a new hard-back bi-annual magazine that was covered by Interview magazine's website a 3 days ago and described as:

Twin magazine, which launches in London on November 5, is the intellectual equivalent of the slow food movement. A hard-backed, bi-annual book-style magazine conceived by London's top editors, it's a thought-provoking, intellectually-nurturing meal for the mind.

It promises to:

"love creative women and not worship empty celebrity" & "peel back the gloss and gets back to the basics of magazine-making."

Acne Paper #9

 

Acne Paper is set to release issue #9, F/W 09.10. The cover, shot by Paolo Roversi, features model actress Tilda Swinton.

The theme is 'Art & Spirituality'.

NY Invites have also gone out, with an image from the editorial (left), but the issue is out worldwide now.

Inside you'll find "interviews with David Lynch, Marina Abramovi and AA Bronson as well as an art portfolio curated by Lisa Rovner, Neville Wakefield. Waldemar Januszczak also delves into the secrets of the Sistine Chapel and Maureen Paley pays special homage to Edvard Munch" according to dazed.
 

160g Magazine Lanuches

 


A brand spanking new internet magazine, with some excellent spanking content, thanks to a bunch of top & upcoming talent behind it.

160g (g for grams) debuts with the Obssesion themed October 09 issue. Featuring models Anna Didenko & Francisco Lachowsky, on it's cover; as shot by Greg Gex.

The below editorial, for example, is one of the must see ones on the site its self, as part of the images move, and I wasn't able to transfer them here. [This seems to be a welcoming web enabled feature that sets internet magazines apart from the old paper ones.] The rest of the magazine is pretty awesome as well.

Kristen Stewart For Interview Magazine's 40th Anniversary Issue

Interview Magazine celebrates its 40th Anniversary with Kristen Stewart on its cover. Shot by Craig McDean. The $9 October/November issue is on newsstands, as we speak.

Inside you'll find Stewart giving you her middle finger, literally, in the editorial, as well as discuss her current life.

"There's nothing you can do about it, I don't talk to anybody about my personal life and maybe that perpetuates it too. But it's really important to own what you want to own and keep it to yourself."

"The sad thing is that I feel so boring, because Twilight is literally how every conversation i have these days begins."

Covers | Numéro & Amica

The Numéro #107 October 09 cover, with Eniko Mihalik, as shot by Greg Kadel, feels dated for whatever reason. Not sure how crazy I am about it. Having peeked inside the editorial and issue, there's a lack of excitement in 107.

Amica Italy on the other hand continues their minimalist approach, with model Luca Gadjus on the Oct 09 cover.

The horror is Vogue Paris' Oct cover, coming soon.

Plastique is one of the few fashion mags I'm buying these days; So I'm excited (scared) to see what they've done with this, F/W 09, issue. Especially as I'm sensing [from the covers], less glam... compare these to their last two issues covers here and here.

Jamie Bochert For Journal Inc. & Their 1st Ever Fashion Spread

The new and redesign (by Peter Miles) issue of Journal Inc is set to be released at the Rodarte show, tomorrow, and in it you'll find the magazine’s first-ever fashion spread, starring Jamie Bochert, also seen on the cover, reports style.com. The site has a Q&A with founder Michael Nevin with more tidbits about the history and direction of the magazine, here.
