Sasha Grey by Richard Phillips for Gagosian
“For my film portrait of Sasha Grey, I wanted to focus on her expressive and psychological transformation into a cinematic actor, separate from the cues that have associated Sasha with her previous career as a performance artist working within the adult film world.” –Richard Phillips
Still weak for me. I don't think he's found his freedom with this medium yet. The only anticipation for me is the anticipation for the film to end, and that's not a good sign obviously. The weakness could be that the girls are acting for him, instead of being. And this always falls back on the photographer. He needs to make that happen somehow/someway. He needs to pull it out of them. The only part where I felt she's being was at the 0:33 second mark. This is sub-par at best, when you compare it to such short films as the recent Henrik Jessen one we looked at last week.
