Terry Richardson: "I Am A Pervert..."

A freelance model is alleging that Terry Richardson asked her for sexual favors in exchange for taking her picture. Though she has taken down her post about the alleged incident, we have a copy of the full chat conversation that Felice Fawn says took place between her and the renowned fashion photographer...

Today I also read an article titled Sexual Intimidation. The opening paragraph goes like this:

A 13 year old model signed with a very prestigious international agency, head office based in New York, fell pregnant to a photographer in 2009, now 14 she is one of the agencies biggest hits! Common knowledge NEVER!

The agency closed ranks and kept it all very hush hush, as do many photographers, models, agents, designers, make up artists and stylists in a bid to cover their indiscretion. Reputations, careers and making money obviously in many cases, overrides professional standards.

The article continues a paragraph later:

A name that springs to everyone's mind when discussing this topic is Terry Richardson, the very famous, or should we perhaps say infamous photographer. Young women felt pressure, first to take off their clothes, then to perform sexual favors for someone who had control over their careers. How is that not sexual harassment?

We'll leave it there. The article, written by Tina Muddle, is in the debut issue of idoll magazine, now on newsstands.

I admit: his name was new to me. But when I saw some images online, I was attracted to his sense of color and the carefree quality of his fashion work, which nicely mingled sophistication with girl-next-door sex appeal. “He shot for Elle in the ’50s,” said Rachel Smith, the director of the Benrubi gallery. “He’s never really broken past that French sphere. I don’t think he got the credit he deserves.”

Richard Avedon and Irving Penn, among others, dominate that era. Yet it’s interesting that Mr. Dambier, like Avedon, was photographing in the streets, using Paris cafes and other scenes, and in a way that feels more natural and familiar than his American counterpart, who photographed for Harper’s Bazaar and helped bring more action to fashion images.
