Gap's New Logo

Poor thing. I feel sad for this company, who can't seem to make it's way out of the 90's.

This new Gap logo, ironicly, belongs more to financial institution than a clothing retailer.

From 1-10 I give it a 1. It's that terrible.

Update: Gap says only logo only a project.

OMG, yes John I totally agree with your statement, it does look more financial institution than a fashion brand, shame.

I agree to that, some people may find Gap confusing between fashion brand and financial institution!

To me the new one looks like a gas/oil/energy company logo.

I don't like the newlogo I prefer the old one.... In fact this is mroe chic, the new one is too banal!!!

I dont understand such companies.They are far away from the trend and time spirit, but could easily afford one of the best graphic designers for sure.

ugh, agreed. Charlotte Russe, Forever21 and Old Navy are doing more courageous things with their logos than that!!

I get that they're trying to incorporate the blue square into their new logo because that's sort of their symbol but doing a gradient... I guess if they're wanting to *phase out* the blue square maybe a gradient makes sense but why not use the same blue square as the old one? Maybe use it as a period ("Gap.") and then use that blue period for when they advertise their website, use it as a whole social media strategy "Gap.jeans", "Gap.kids", "Gap.outerwear", etc. I'm just thinking off the top of my head here.

I'm not into clothing lines, but I agree, it does seem a little bit "corporate" or "boring", too formal for a fashion logo.

I agree to that and I am still wondering about gap confusion of fashion design. I think it will diminish with time. So take time! Designing is an essential part of one outer display.
