The Importance Of Cues In A Collection

 

In my understanding so far, there are two secrets to Miuccia Prada's success, besides her innate abilities, that she continues to executes with every collection, and that in turn leave a mark on our memories.

One is that she tends to go against the current, by doing something completely opposite of what everyone else is working on. This in its self highlights her work better.

The 2nd is that she leaves us with playful visual cues (even when formal) that further help identify a Prada pieces/collection. They could be such things as the aprons of her Miu Miu S/S 09 collection; The exposed bras and fur of her Miu Miu F.W 09.10 collection; the naked-figures prints of her Miu Miu S.S 10 collection; and here for the Miu Miu Resort 2011 she's giving us apples and hearts in distinct bright colors.

These are just a few examples of the cues that help stylists and photographers have fun with her designs. And a smart designers should always have something to flag our memories with.

Now though I focused on her Miu Miu line, she does the same with the Prada Line. So if I was to say crystal-chandeliers, you will most likely remember these, no?

Other designers that are good as this are Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, and D&G.

More Green Hair

 

This is the 3rd time I come across green hair in the past month or so...Trend? The first time was here, then I lost the 2nd one, which was for a designer lookbook, and now here.

Surprisingly, in the poll I took, about 50% of you said you would go green.

Miuccia Is Loving Anais Pouliot

 

Trump's 5'10" Anais Pouliot is Miuccia Prada's new favorite girl.

Having landed a Miu Miu exclusive during Paris' F.W 10.11 fashion show, the young darling—who has been around since 2007—has now found her self amongest a few girls for Prada resort 2011, and along another Prada fav, Lindsey Wixson, for Miu Miu resort 2011.

So what does she look like behind the makeup? And sound like? Well Models.com had done a little piece on her style last month, which you can check out out here.

Lastly, can you see similarities in the lips, in comparison to Lindsey? I'm wondering if that attracted her to Miuccia. Just a thought.

Styling by Edward Enninful is a little off in my opinion, but I do like the setting, hair, and makeup. It also does make up a little for Dior's horrific beauty campaign.

Jo Calderone Is (Maybe) Lady Gaga As A Man

 

Alright, so word on the street, and flying around the net, as we speak, is that the above male model is in actuality Lady Gaga. He is going by the name of: Jo Calderone.

Per Nicola Formichetti, he is being shot by Nick Knight, at SHOWstudio (here & here), for Vogue Hommes Japan.

So why does everyone think this is Lady Gaga? For one, the tie between Nicola and Lady Gaga: he's her stylist. Secondly Gaga has previously worked with Knight. And thirdly, and a little more far fetched, is that Jo Calderone is Alejandro with the letter C added. Alejandro is the title of Lady Gaga's most recent video.

Additionally, as much as they might have tried to hide it, you can still see her breasts showing through a little.

So! Is this Lady Gaga?
