Here Goes Nothing | Vogue US May 09 Cover, The Models Issue

The much anticipated May 09 issue of Vogue US is here. Shot by Steven Meisel it features models: Liya Kebede, Natalia Vodianova, Anna Jagodzinska, Isabeli Fontana, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Raquel Zimmermann, Caroline Trentini and Natasha Poly.
First impression...while it must always be an agony for Vogue US to feature models on their cover, it's better then nothing, of course. That said though, the final result, and though shot by the master photographer, still smells Vogue US. In the sense that they chose the wrong third in my opinion.
I can almost guarantee that if this was Vogue Italia, or Paris, they would have picked one of the right two thirds as the main cover. Which I think look amazing. They're way more artistic and beautiful then the left third, as a cover. Natalia V's odd look is off as well. Photoshoped?
I would also have liked to have seen a much fresher face in the mix. There are so many new models that are the muses these days that it was owed them to be featured. For example: Karlie K, Anna S. Myf, Sigrid, Nimu, Imogen, Milou, etc, etc.... is there no nurturing going on inside Vogue US?
But, what do you guys think?
Anna Wintour single-handedly gave Caroline Trentini a career. That girl has appeared on almost every issue of US Vogue but hardly anywhere else. What gives?
Liya, Natalia and Isabeli are all veterans in the industry. They should be on the comeback issue.
I agree with Amb about Liya, Natalia and Isabeli..I wish they've included Chanel Iman and Jac. Raquel Zimmerman looks like she's looking somewhere else
I did a complete double take when I saw this, because Natalia looks identical to Jean Shrimpton. I'm huge fan of Shrimpton (I'm into mod 60's etc.) and that's how I noticed. I believe it must be intentional. The similarity is striking - her expression, the hair, etc.
