WWGD | My Weekend Read

WWGD | by Jeff Jarvis This weekend I'm reading a book titled:

What Would Google Do? by Jeff Jarvis.

It's about "the new worldview of the Internet generation: how it challenges and destroys, but also [how it ] opens up vast new opportunities."

It's a  visionary look, that gives readers a glimpse of how everyone and everything must evolve in the Google era.

So why am I sharing this with you?

Art Copious | The Originality of Reed & Rader

Reed & Rader

0798 20 something Matthew Rader & Pamela Reed are ripping things up and re grouping them together in a new, innovative, and creative way. Combining photography with everything from illustration and collage to game design and installation, plus mix to that models, and fashion, and you end up with a kind of stuff we really like.

When asked by Spiral Mag "What motivates you?" they answer:
"We want to create a dialog where we can push people and ourselves to think beyond today’s reality and imagine what is possible tomorrow."

When asked: "Who/what are your greatest inspirations?" they replied:
"We are inspired by standing on the precipice of the future. Technological innovation such as augmented reality and exploration of outer space are our two biggest themes. The work of futurists Ray Kurzweil and Vernor Vinge explore these ideas and are two of our largest inspirations."

Here is a sample of their work!  But also check out their website.

Bags & Skin | Kaviar Gauche Simple Solution for Winter 09

Say you're a company, wanting to showcase your new collection of handbags; at the same time focusing the attention on the bags, and not the clothe worn by the models, walking down the catwalk. How would you go about doing so? One way, of course, is to eliminate the clothe.

That's exactly what Kaviar Gauche did when sending their models down the catwalk, for their Winter 09 collection. Leaving the girls in their skin tone undies, and long hair to cover their privates.

Video after the break & thanks to Les Mads for the images.

Baron & Templer's Short Lived 'Interview'

Interview

WWD reports that Fabien Baron is set to leave Interview magazine, less then a year after he left Vogue Paris to become its co-editorial director. He's also taking with him creative director Karl Templer.

Their debut September 08 featured Kate Moss on it's cover; they had re-designed the magazine's layout, fonts, and overall direction. It was received with much praise at the time.

Their last Feb 09 issue featured actress Lindsay Lohan

So why the sudden departure? Parent company Brant Publications said in a statement, that Baron wants to focus on his agency Baron & Baron; while Templer resigned “in order to focus on other projects."

So what's next for the mag? WWD states that "M/M Paris, the French duo known for their work with designers and magazines including Vogue Paris and Purple magazine, is said to be taking over the creative direction of Interview, but that was unconfirmed as of press time." [WWD]

Covers | L'officiel Hommes & Vs

L'officiel-Hommes-Vs

Two covers caught my attention today. Vs & L'officiel Hommes.

The first features actress/model/designer Milla Jovovich as shot by Eric Guillemain. And it is the Spring/Summer 09 issue.

The second is officiel Hommes featuring model Angela Lindvall as shot by Milan Vukmirovic. From what I can tell, they've crossed the L of "I "love" LA" and hence became I love Angela.

There may also be an alternate cover with model Andres Segura. This being a men's focused magazine, it makes sense. One for the gay, one for the straight.

Larissa Johan | New Faces We Love ♥

Larissa-Johan

Not much is known about Larissa Johan except that she's Brazilian and was walking in the recent São Paulo Fashion Week. But holy hell as someone put it is she precious!

She's suppose to be with Ten Model Management in Brazil but was no where to be found on their site.

Umm... A sign she's picked up by a bigger agency!

For now some of her portfolio!

Meisel's CK Jeans Banned Commercial

Calvin_Klein

The CK Jeans ads have come out & their accompanying video is stirring some steamy trouble.

The grainy video shot by Steven Meisel stars models Anna Selezneva, Anna Maria Jagodzinska, Natasha Poly, and Edita half naked, and in deep passion with their counterpart male models.

This might have passed by but then the girls nipples make it on to the screen. Of course that got them banned from even cable stations.

An edited version is in the works but below is the original shot.

1st [O|O] | Daria Werbowy for Balmain S/S 09 Ad Campaign

Balmain SS 09 Daria Werbowy

Not sure who shot this yet, but hot Balmain chose a hot desert setting for his campaign. Feels like Arizona or Phonics?

I'm not crazy about the Daria choice though. She's overused this season. She's in Roberto Cavalli, Isabel Marant and soon Matthew Williamson.
