Speaking With the Lovely Krysten Ritter

Krysten Ritter

Confessions of a Shopaholic Sometimes you speak to someone and they leave you dazzled and joyful. This was my experience this week when I caught up with the lovely Krysten Ritter; to speak with her about her upcoming movie Confessions of a Shopaholic (opening Feb 13th), future projects and the many goals this young lady is set to accomplish in the near future. It turns out modeling, and acting are but two of the many talents she posses!

The Interview

John: Confessions of a Shopaholic is marked on our calendar as a must see movie, early next year. Tell us a little about your character and your experience shooting the film. There must have been many fun moments on the set!

Krysten: I had an amazing time shooting this movie! I never wanted it to end! I play Suze (Rebeccas best friend) who helps reign in a bit of Rebeccas spending. Very fun and funny! Make sure to see it opening weekend!!

Prior to acting You were actually familiar with the fashion and modeling world. You were discovered by Elite Models Management and have done modeling for some time. How can you sum up that part of your life and what did it teach you? Would you do it all over again?

2586024484_e06d191eca It was an amazing stepping stone for me. I grew up fast, I learned how to be a savvy business woman, and I got to travel the world. Although modeling wasn't the perfect job for me--- YES I would do it all over again. No question.White-line

How would you describe your personal style? And how important is it to your personal expression?

My style is pretty specific. It's like rock-and-roll-90's-ballerina. If that makes sense? Grungy but feminine.

You’ve done modeling, commercials, theater, and now acting, but you are also an avid musician, and writer. Tell me a little about those two, how much a part of you are they?

A huge part. I work hard at everything I do and I have ambitions in many areas. I've sold a pilot, am about to start shopping a feature script that I wrote with my writing partner Katherine Cunningham-Eves, and I have a newly recorded batch of songs that are being mixed this very moment. (You can check out the music on myspace under EX VIVIAN. Some new tunes will start popping up.) I love the business and I want to take advantage of all it has to offer and have my foot in many different facets of the industry.

You grew up on a farm, in Pennsylvania, and now live in NYC I believe; are you a city or farm girl at heart?

I'm a city girl! I LOVE animals but I like the country in small portions. I like to be busy and running around and overwhelmed and surrounded by all sorts of weirdos. I'm grateful for my background because it's the foundation of who I am--- but the city is where I thrive at this exact moment. That isn't to say that someday I won't want to have a family and a farm in the country someday... That's certainly on my list.

Do you come from an artistic background?

I do not. No one in my family is in the arts or the entertainment industry. How did I get here again? Pinch me please.

Following 'Confessions' we’ll be able to see you in the comedy 'How to Make Love to a Woman'; How did that come along and what can you share with us about the movie? Any challenges?

I was shooting She's Out of My League for Dreamworks in Pittsburgh just after wrapping Confessions and I flew into LA for 3 days for meetings. They hadn't started actively casting for How to Make Love to a Woman yet, but they snuck me in there to audition for the director and producers. I went back to Pittsburgh and continued working on SOOML and got a call a month later with the offer for the lead girl! I was super psyched- especially because it started the day that I was meant to wrap SOOML. There is nothing sexier than going from movie to movie. I've been very fortunate this year doing 3 back to back features and now I have this great part on Breaking Bad. Challenges filming How To? Working night shoots in the rain with laryngitis! Annnnnd... trying not to drool over the director. :)

Any roll or genre you look forward to taking on in the future?

I want to do it all baby! Keep doing what I'm doing. I hope to continue booking a variety of fabulous roles-- comedy and drama. I also plan to direct.
