I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Years. Behave your self tonight! :)
For the Fashion Copious January 09 cover, i've chosen a 19 year old model named Beata Ščotková. A Czech Republic born, signed with Glamour Model Managment Praque.
My other choice was Irina M., but I finally decided on Beata to keep things gentle as we head into the new year. I hope you like her.
Once in a while I come across a new face that stops me still. Causing a combination of captivation and bewilderment. The cause being the obtrusive uniqueness of the girls beauty. Usually, an indicator of possible greatness. A kind of face that usually Supreme loves.
That was the case with Irina M. A new face with Storm Management.
I've been sitting on this girl for a two week now, not sure what to make of her. So I poked a photographer friend (Chad Muller) to get his opinion. Here was his reaction:
"Best new face I saw this year. This girl is beyond cool. One great find by Storm, possibly their best new face. The girl possesses not only the right stats but, and far more importantly, the right depth. With a timeless grace and beauty, she also seems to possess an abundant amount of edge. Rare, even amongst seasoned pros. She'll go on to do great things. No doubt."
There you have it.
Will Irina rise to greatness? Will she land a Vogue Italia cover in 2009. And will Supreme pick her up? 2009 will answer these questions, meanwhile here is a look at her portfolio and love to hear your feedback.
Fendi S/S 09 Ad Campaign
Model: Toni Garrn
Shot by: Karl Lagerfeld
This is quite interesting actually... The angle of the room seems distorted, in the way the chair stands. The painting/photograph is interesting as well. Toni's hair is edgy and the blue shoes stand out.
But I'm still not a fan of Lagerfeld's photography, both in ads and editorials.

Yawn! I mean Leopard print again? Kate one more time? The only saving grace is Mert & Marcus whose work I like a lot.

Here is a first look at the Marc by Marc Jacobs S/S 09 Ad Campaign, featuring Daisy Lowe as shot by Juergen Teller.
Reaction? A Big Yawn....!
Don't get me wrong; I like Marc and Daisy and Teller, but this trio of a combo didn't mix well here.
I think the real problem is the combination of the Marc Jacobs Brands with Juergen Teller. The acclaimed fashion photographer has been shooting for the acclaimed designer for a little too long now, and in my opinion the point of view once easily identified with the due no longer stands out. It's now nothing more then an expected bore.
I think it's time for Marc Jacobs to bring in a new eye and angle to his ads; because as of now redundancy is ruling [and killing] them.

As much as I don't enjoy parties, I've found someone that does.
Be it the weekend, and a few days before New Years Eve I thought I share with you a blog I recently came across called Glam Canyon. It's run by glam lady and photographer Katja Hentschel and its focus is on the night scene, and the parties taking place in them.
Fom London to Berlin; to openings and celebs she's got a great eye to capture the feeling and mood of it all. Below are are a few random pics, but to see them all check out Katja's GlamCanyon.com. Thanks Katja.
The above image is from the Jan 09 French Vogue. It showcases the Prada S/S 09 collection, specifically the skirtshort we had seen on the runway a couple of months ago.
It's kind of interesting that when you wrap a skirt around shorts and leave not to close all the way, it all of the sudden becomes quite sexy & maybe even provocative!
So I was curious if you would you wear this come summer time?
Our Polaroids series continue with model Rachel Pouwer from Women Milano.
Fierce is the word that comes to mind when I look at them. She's lets out such energy.
But the model is not the concern here, as much as the Polaroids themselves. I wish they had not trimmed them up, but you still get their sense of unedited rawness and beauty.
I don't remember seeing covers with such rounded wave of descriptions. Yes, maybe pushing plain to the limits but I rather have this plain then the mess of most vogue's.
And the dress is gorgeous isn't it? Anyone know the designer?
Amica Italy January 2009
Model: Charlotte Di Calypso

Back on October 3rd I wrote a post called In a Suspenders State of Mind, discussing a trend I'm slowly seeing in the use of suspenders. And This image above (Amica Italy's Jan 09 issue) continues ascertains that notion.
These suspenders in particular are quiet interesting in particular. They look more like a luggage straps, which make them look really really cool.
What do you think, would you wear suspenders?
